Sept 2, 1952 - Carroll Daily Times - Frank Thielen, 56, Carroll farmer, died unexepectedly of a heart attack at his home southeast of Carroll at 10:15 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's church, Willey. The Rev. H.J. Dries will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery there. Mr. Thielen, son of William and Theresa Thielen, was born July 29, 1896, at Exira. He was married to Anna Wieland of Carroll Oct. 17, 1922, at St. Joseph's church here, with Msgr. Stephen Butler officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Thielen farmed in the vicinity of Exira until 1936, when they moved to the Glidden community and farmed there until 1940. At that time, they moved to the present location nine miles south and four miles east of Carroll. Mr. Thielen was a veteran of Worid War I. He had served as a member of the board of education of the Carrollton Consolidated School for six years. Surviving are his widow and five children: Charles Thielen, Carroll; Mrs. Merle (Angeline) Schoeppner, Dedham; Mrs. Cliff (Anna Mae) Hacker, Templeton; Franklin and Ronnie, at home. He also leaves five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Herbert Thielen, Lidderdale; P.J. Thielen, Dedham; Mrs. George Wieland, Brayton; Mrs. Jake Nienes, Atlantic; Mrs. Joe Bintner, Brayton; and William Thielen, Atlantic. His parents are deceased. Mr. Thielen was a member of St. Mary's church, Willey and the Rosary society of the parish.
