He married 3rd Anna Rohan on April 27, 1943. June 17, 1964 - Carroll Daily Times Herald - Herbert W Thielen, 78, Lidderdale, died of a heart ailment at his home here about 4 p.m. Tuesday June 16. Requiem mass will be read at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Church, Lidderdale, of which he was a member. The Rev. John G. Eagan will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 8 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday; and at 3, 8 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The eight o'clock rosary Thursday will be recited by the Holy Name Society of Holy Family parish. Mr. Thielen was born Jan. 29, 1886, at Brayton, a son of William and Theresa Thielen. He received his high school education in the Auburn public school and for two years attended Campion College, Prairie du Chien, Wis. He returned to Carroll, making his home with his parents, who had moved here, and worked at the Post Office. On February 12, 1911, he was married to Elizabeth Pape in SS. Peter and Paul Church, with the late Rev. Joseph Kuemper officiating. They lived near Auburn, where Mr. Thielen was engaged in general farming and cattle feeding. In 1926, they retired and moved to Carroll. Mrs. Thielen died on August 9, 1935. In 1939, Mr. Thielen was married to Mrs. Clara Bierl of Dedham, who died in 1941. On April 27, 1943, Mr. Thielen and Mrs. Anna Rohan were married in Holy Family Church here and have lived in Lidderdale since that time. Surviving are his wife, Anna; three children, Mrs. John (Annabelle) Duffy, San Pedro, Calif.; Clarence Thielen, Aitken, Minn.; and Mrs. William (Winifred) Stafford, Estherville; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Peter and William Thielen, Atlantic; and two sisters, Mrs. Jake Neienes, Atlantic, and Mrs. Joseph Bintner, Brayton. One brother, Frank Thielen, and a sister, Mrs. George Wieland, preceded him in death.
