Kirkhoff Held Saturday ---- Had Lived Near Edgar for Many Years and His Death is Mourned by Many ---- Frank Joseph Kirkhoff was born in Lippstadt, Germany, January 30, 1861. He departed this life September 3, 1930, after a short illness. At the age of 17 he came to America. He lived in Missouri for a few years, then came to Omaha, Nebr. On July 17, 1892, he was united in marriage to Lena Caroline Helwig, at the German M. E. Church at Omaha. In 1894 they moved to Lawrence, Nebraska, where they resided on a farm for four years, then moved to a farm six miles north of Edgar, Nebraska. In the year 1912 they moved to their own home two miles west of Edgar where he resided at the time of his death. To this union eight children were born, an infant daughter preceding him in death. Those surviving are, his wife, Mrs. Lena Kirkhoff; and seven children, Mrs. Minnie Shuck, Mrs. Mabel Wheeland, Mrs. Lillian Shuck and Frank C. Kirkhoff of Edgar, Nebraska; Mrs. Ida Foy of Ayr, Nebraska; Mrs. Myreta Organ of Fullerton, California and Miss Irene Kirkhoff of Santa Ana, California. He also leaves to mourn his loss, 16 grandchildren, one sister living in Germany and a host of relatives and friends. He was brought up in the Catholic faith, but later joined the M. E. Church at Edgar, Nebraska. He was a kind and loving father, and will be greatly missed in his home and community. For God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform; Ye fearful, fresh courage take, These clouds ye so much dread Are big with mercy and shall break In blessings on your head, Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace. Funeral services were held at the Edgar Methodist Church, Saturday, September 6, 1930, at 2:00 p.m., Rev S. G. Rasmusson in charge The high respect in which the deceased was held was manifest by the large number of people in attendance at the funeral. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery.
