The Schoenenberger family were early settlers in the neighborhood, and here Frank was born and grew up to a strong and vigorous manhood. He was the youngest son, and as such, on him seemed to fall the natural duty of remaining with and caring for the aged and honored parents, in their already advanced years. The duty to him was not an irksome one, but a joy and a delight. He was by nature kind, obliging, and thoughtful, always looking for the comfort of those about him, and was never so happy as when he could render his friends the ministry of his kindly heart and willing hands. His parents, who for years having frown feeble with the natural infirmity of age, were always sure of his personal care and attention. Always ready to oblige brother and sister, he was always prompt to remain to care for father and mother, when others wanted to be away from home. But not alone in the family circle was he kind and considerate. He was a general favorite in the neighborhood, where his many noble qualities were universally recognized and admired. His honesty in dealing and his wholesome integrity of character were conceded. But not only was he kind and considerate of those about him. He was likewise active, energetic and industrious. He had at his early age acquired considerable property, being the owner of several valuable tracts of land, and was rapidly becoming one of the foremost citizens of his community in point of property enterprise. His death was quite unexpected and the blow to the family consequently all the more severe. His sickness was of short duration, and to all appearances a light attack. On the fourth he walked about and seemed to be about well, yet on the 5th he passed away, suddenly but peacefully. The funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, and were attended by the largest concourse of people that ever assembled on a like occasion in that vicinity, a silent, yet eloquent, testimony to the love and respect with which his neighbors and friends regarded him. Frank Schoenenberger is gone. The old home that he had so long loved has felt the breath of desolation. Parents, brothers, and sisters have experienced the heavy hand of bereavement. To them he is now but a memory. It is something, even in the shadow of bereavement, to remember the departed only with the kindliest and most lovable regard. In the quiet cemetery, in a spot sacred to the family and friends, the mortal remains are at rest, awaiting the hour of the general resurrection
