Survivors are his wife and eight children: five boys and three girls. The sons are L.L., Joe, Sam, and Fred, who lives in Kansas; and Ralph who lives in California; Mrs. Bessie Wyant, Mrs. L.C. Todd of Anadarko and Mrs. Jack Perkins of California are the daughters. All of the children, escept Fred, Ralph and Mrs. Perkins, will attend the funeral. Horton was born in Jones county, Iowa August 6, 1875 and died at Anadarko, Oklahoma April 8, 1931, age 79 years, eight months and 2 days. His boyhood days were spent on his father's farm, near Wyoming, Iowa. In 1879 he moved to Marshall county, Kansas where he was married to Myrtie J. Elliott, April 5, 1881, and who survives him. Sunday April 5, 1931 marked their fortieth wedding anniversary. To this union were born eleven children, eight of whom are still living - five sons, Fred, Joe, Landes, Ralph and Sam and three daughters, Bessie, Frances and Ruth. In 1891 the family moved to Genoa, Nebraska, and in 1909 they moved to Caddo county, Oklahoma. Some of Mr. Horton's outstanding characteristics were his faith in God, being a member of the Methodist Church; a cheerful, kindly attitude toward those he met, a great lover of home and family, appreciative of all kindness shown him. He possessed in a marked degree the pioneer's love of nature and wild life. His chief sport being to fish and hunt. Mr. Horton's work was farming and carpentering. He was a quiet, peace loving man and an extensive reader. Mr. Horton's cheerful greeting will be sadly missed among relatives and friends, especially among the grandchildren with whom grandfather was always a good pal.
