Description	:	Son of Frank and Anna (Krohn) Mundschenk. was baptized December 15, 1927 and confirmed in August 9, 1942 at Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg. Frank attended school for eight years at District #56, just a mile south from where the family lived on a farm. When he completed school, he helped his father with farming. At age eighteen, he registered for the draft and was drafted into the US Army on September 20, 1944. He served for two years with the 21st Infantry Regiment mainly in the South Pacific and they were some of the first troops to go into Japan. After... Read More	Son of Frank and Anna (Krohn) Mundschenk. was baptized December 15, 1927 and confirmed in August 9, 1942 at Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg. Frank attended school for eight years at District #56, just a mile south from where the family lived on a farm. When he completed school, he helped his father with farming. At age eighteen, he registered for the draft and was drafted into the US Army on September 20, 1944. After being discharged in November 1946, he returned to the family farm where he farmed with his two younger brothers and also did some carpentry work with his father. He and his brother, Julius, continued to farm together until 1979. On April 5, 1982, he married Alma Hayes at Yankton, SD. They continued to farm and lived on the "home place" until the fall of 1996 when they sold the farm and moved to Grand Island, NE. In August 2004, he moved back to Albion into Samaritan Estates. In the fall of 2006 he moved into the Good Samaritan Center. He enjoyed being with family, playing cards, woodworking, crafts, and working outside in his garden and flowers. Frank is survived by a step-son David Vaughn, 2 step-granddaughters Karissa and Brittany, 3 sisters, Emma Kennedy of Pontiac, IL, Catherine Pyka of Martinez, CA, and Elsie Wheeler of Albion, NE and 2 brothers, Julius Mundschenk of Albion, NE and Harold Mundschenk and wife Ruth of Eagan, MN, a sister-in-law Corinne (Kenneth) Mundschenk of Flanagan, IL as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma, one sister Josephine and 6 brothers, John, William Lenard, Walter, Kenneth, and Robert.
