[Mason City Globe Gazette, June 26, 1936] ------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank M. Sharley Died Friday After Few-Hours Illness! Frank Sharley, only son of Mrs. Emily Sharley Dorn, died early Friday morning, after an illness of but a few hours, and the shock is indeed a severe one to his mother and sister, as well as to his many friends. Frank went to a local doctor's office for an operation for the removal of his tonsils on Thursday afternoon at about 5 o‘clock. His throat was in a very bad condition, and the operation took considerable time. His doctor took him home and put him to bed, and visited him a couple of times during the evening. At about midnight the patient slept, and Will Rademacher, a patient who is being cared for at the Sharley home, and Mrs. Sharley watched over him. Apparently a blood clot formed, and Frank died without a moment's warning. Frank Maskell Sharley was born May 22, 1916, at Osage, and died June 22, 1936. He spent his entire life in Osage, with the exception of two years in Texas and New Mexico. In 1933 and 1934 he was in the CCC camp at Cresco. There he contracted scarlet fever. He was released from the camp in 1934, and has since been working for the Cedar Valley Produce Company. In February of this year he underwent an operation for appendicitis, and contract pneumonia from which he never fully recovered. He is survived by his mother and one sister, Mrs. Ella Grove, of New Hampton. Another sister, Muriel, preceded him in death on July 11, 1925. Funeral services on Sunday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in charge of the Reverend Frank A. Court, pastor of the Methodist Church, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery. Those from out of town present at the funeral were: Messrs, and Mmes. Abner Grove, Glen Grove, all of Ionia; Roy Grove, New Hampton; Mrs. Guy Hanley and children, Charles and Warren Grove, Ionia; Lynn Grove, Fredericksburg; and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Westwick, Mason City.
