Description	:	Frank Richard Lamb was the son of Joseph Milton and Sarah Elizabeth (Cantonwine) Lamb, the grandson of Jacob and Christina (Dilling/Dillon) Cantonwine, and the great-grandson of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine. Charles, the patriarch of the Cantonwine family, immigrated to America from Prussia in 1806, arriving in Philadelphia, Penn., aboard the ship Orlando. The ship's passenger list shows "Chr. Kuntentwine, single man." The name Kuntentwine later evolved to Cantonwine, and Charles appears to be the only surnamed Kuntenwine/Cantonwine to immigrate to America. Cañon City [Fremont Co., CO] Daily Record, July 3, 1973 Frank Lamb, Pioneer of County, Dies Frank Richard Lamb, son of a pioneer Fremont County family, and one of the county's oldest remaining native residents, died at the Skyline Nursing Retreat. He was 93. Mr. Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Milton Lamb, was born May 21, 1880 on Texas Creek about seven miles south of the Arkansas River. He grew up on his father's homestead near Hillside and was educated at the Hillside School and South Cañon City High School in addition to attending the Colorado Agricultural College in 1901. Lamb's varied career included teaching at the Texas Creek School, working as an assistant in surveying jobs, mining in Nevada, acting as postmaster in Wonder District of Nevada, and in 1908, he returned to Fremont County and bought ranches in Cotopaxi and Texas Creek. In 1929, he went to work for the Federal Land Bank until 1933. In 1950, he sold the ranches, which were now more than 1,500 acres, and started surveying in the 1950s uranium boom. In 1958, he was elected county surveyor. Mr. Lamb did not retire until the middle 1960s. . . . Frank Lamb had been in declining health for several years. Mr. Lamb married Maude Conover in Washington, D. C., March 30, 1907. She died in 1961. He had lived in Cañon City since 1949 and was a member of the Cañon City Elks Lodge No. 610. . . . Father Robert Babb, Christ Episcopal Church, will conduct funeral services Friday at 11 a.m. in the Almont Chapel of the Garden, Holt and Wilson Almont Mortuary. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery.
