Description	:	William Alfred Lamb was the son of Joseph Milton & Sarah Elizabeth (Cantonwine) Lamb, the grandson of Jacob & Christena (Dilling/Dillon) Cantonwine, and the great-grandson of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine. Charles, the patriarch of the Cantonwine family, immigrated to America from Prussia in 1806, arriving in Philadelphia, Penn., aboard the ship Orlando. The ship's passenger list shows "Chr. Kuntentwine, single man." The name Kuntentwine later evolved to Cantonwine, and Charles appears to be the only surnamed Kuntenwine/Cantonwine to immigrate to America. Lamb, U.S. government engineer and member of a pioneer family of western Fremont county, died at his home in Helena, Mont., February 9, according to word sent the [Cañon City] Daily Record. His death came after a brief illness of pneumonia. The son of Joseph and Elizabeth [Cantonwine] Lamb, among the earliest settlers of the Cotopaxi district, Major Lamb had been in Helena for the past 29 years, where he supervised distribution of water between the United States and Canada for the [U.S.] Geological Survey. Surviving him are three brothers and three sisters, Charles of Nevada, John and Frank Lamb of Cotopaxi; Flora McGlothlin of Pueblo and Mrs. Martha Adams of Nevada. Frank Lamb, when notified of his brother's illness, went by train to Denver and from there to Helena by air. Funeral services and interment will be in Helena.
