Burial in Wilbur Cemetery – As One of the Early Pioneers He Enjoyed Confidence and Esteem of Neighbors A large number of warm friends of Frank Sherman Kiner attended his funeral held here yesterday afternoon at the Community church. Howell, Mrs. Godfrey Thompson, Mrs. John D. Arbogast, Walter Daniels and Godfrey Thompson, with Miss Geraldine Oswalt at the piano. The pallbearers were T. B. Draper, Chris Lyse, A. H. Jarchow, James McKay, Robert Hankel and J. C. Altizer Mr. Kiner was born in Fairfield, Henry county, Iowa, and celebrated his 66th birth anniversary, December 27th, 1931. He was married to Miss Luella Coppock of Coppock, Iowa, June 2, 1886. They came to Washington in 1891 and homesteaded about 10 miles south of here, later acquiring a total of 400 acres. This was their home until 1907 when they moved to Govan to make a permanent home. Mr. Kiner was many years road supervisor on Sunset highway from Almira to Creston, and an accident while operating the road machinery resulted in the loss of a leg. He had never regained full health after the accident and relatives believe that to be the original cause of his passing away at his home January 24. He was also supervisor for a number of years on roads in three country districts before his retiring from farming. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and was one of the pioneers helping to establish that denomination in this part of Lincoln county in an early day. He is survived by his widow, five children and nine grandchildren, two brothers and a host of sincere friends who extend sympathy to the bereaved family. The children are: Mrs. A.V. Hardy, Grants Pass, Oregon; Mrs. M.C. Draper, Govan; Mrs T. J. Johnston, St. John; Mrs. Ray Jonason, Seattle, and Melvin Kiner, Govan. The brothers are: Joe Kiner, Garden City, Kansas and E. A. Kiner, Omak. There are numerous other relatives in this region. The burial in Wilbur cemetery was in charge of J.C. Phillips, mortician. Fairfield is in Jefferson county, right next to Henry county.
