Thurber were united in marriage in a single ring ceremony at the Methodist parsonage in Edgar, Wednesday forenoon, Nov. 7, the Rev. Harry Gleim performing the ceremony. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Basey. Thurber (Obituary) Frank Stacy Thurber, son of William Riley Thurber and Ella (Stacy) Thurber was born June 17, 1878 in a sod house 5 1/2 miles east of Edgar, located on the southwest quarter of the section where he lived for 55 years. He passed to his reward July 27, 1957 at the age of 79 years, one month and ten days. Following the completion of his education in the Star District and the Edgar high school, he was married Feb. 25, 1900 to Sarah Ella Morehouse. Mr. and Mrs. Thurber began and continued life as farmers. To this union three children were born, Claude Wesley Thurber who lives on the home place, Willis Riley Thurber of Burwell, Nebr., and Mrs. Ella Mae Heim of Murdock, Nebr. Mr. Thurber became a member of the Ong Church during the pastorate of J.B. Priest and, until failing health made if difficult for him to participate, was a regular attendant at Church services. As a farmer he was well acquainted with farm problems and was interested and active in leadership in all farming and community betterment projects. The mother of his children preceded him in death July 11, 1955 and on Nov. 7, 1956 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mattie Wall of Edgar who has been his faithful partner during his final illness. In addition to his children and his widow, he is survived by seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Stewart of Valentine, Nebr., and Mrs. Anna Baumgardner of Harlingen Texas and one brother, Cliff Thurber of Wilcox, Nebr. Memorial services were conducted by the Rev. Harry Gleim in the Methodist church at Edgar Monday morning. During the service Mrs. Byron Kinnison and Mrs. Maurice Hand sang two hymns, with Mrs. Robert Mikkelsen at the organ. Casket bearers were A.C. Swanson, Clark Kinnison, Ralph McCloughan, Herbert Johnson, Harold Stickell and Wright Stacy. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Methodist church with Rev. Harry Gleim officiating. Burial was in the Edgar cemetery (sic).
