Thurber was born August 4, 1887 at Edgar, Nebraska, the son of W.R. and Ella S. Thurber. He passed away March 4, 1969 at the Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska. He was married to Gertrude Price on July 1, 1922. She passed away in 1936. On November 25, 1938 he was united in marriage to Minnie Wehrman. Mr. Thurber joined the Ong Methodist Church in his youth. He lived around Edgar and Ong for many years. After moving a number of times he settled in Nelson about 8 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Gertrude, three brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Minnie and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Friday, March 7, 1969 at 2:00 p.m. in the Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, with Victor Schwarz of the First Christian Church officiating. Casket Bearers were Henry Wehrman, Homer B. Wehrman, C.E. Wehrman Jr., Albert Jensen, Chas Holms and Chas. Keim. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska. Out of town guests attending the funeral of Clifford Thurber were: Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Wehrman of Boise, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henry and family of Manhattan, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Tevell Strauss of Littleton, Colorado; Mrs. Donald Rutt of Denver, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Thurber of Burwell, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Thurber of Edgar, Nebraska; Mrs. Edward Nelson, Ben Nelson and Tom Nelson of Shickley, Nebraska and Mrs. Eugene Krabel of Hastings, Nebraska.
