He was bothered with rheumatism for several years, but remained active, but in the last two months the combination of rheumatism and liver trouble proved fatal. He lived a varied life, He was born August 15th in Florissant near St. Louis. Missouri and was the son of Vaclav and Anna Bandhauer. The father was one of the first Czechs to come to America, coming here in 1852 from Prostic, Bohemia They came to America in a sail boat, it was a long and miserable trip. Young Bandhauer-first went to a German school in St. Louis. Later, he became a cigar maker in Chicago, It was in Chicago he became interested in the theater and longed to get into acting, but his parents wouldn't hear of it and suggested he go to business school. When he finished school, he got into the shirt industry. Later he worked for the city on the city directory, for a sheriff, and a judge, and he soon got into politics, but he never got over his longing for the theater. He helped in an English-speaking theater. He came to Omaha in 1880 and went to work for (Jan) Rosicky, who was the owner of Pokrok Západu (Progress of the West). He worked on the census and as a land agent between Omaha and Council Bluffs for the Union Pacific for incoming immigrants. In 1882, he married Emilie Krejci and had one son who is now a clerk in the Omaha Post Office. His love of the theater stayed with him, and in Omaha he organized plays and acted in them. He had a great talent. Besides his wife and son, Emil, he is survived by his 86 -year-old mother, Mrs. Anna Bandhauer, who lives with her daughter, Mrs, J. Kalina. The funeral will be Saturday December 30, from the Masonic Temple at 16th & Capitol Ave. He will be buried in the Bohemian Cemetery.
