Description	:	He was born Franz "Frank" Wenzl, in Neuwallisdorf, Bohmen, Bohemia which is now called New Wallisdorf in the Czech Republic situated about 35 to 40 miles west and a little south of the Czech capital of Prauge (Praha) as it is spelled on a modern day map. There he married Josephina Belcha on October 8, 1834. They had seven sons and two daughters. The family emigrated to the USA along with his wife's parents and many other family members leaving the port of Bremen, Hauve, Germany on April 18, 1867 aboard the ship "Johanne Wilhelmine." On the ship manifest his occupation is given as a "Wirth" (Hotelkeeper). He probably operated a small Inn, or "Gasthause" (guesthouse). Each passenger paid $100.00 in fare to board the ship. His son Anton and his wife had two month old baby Ambrose Frank Wenzl with them, and family tradition says he was smuggled aboard the ship because babies were not wanted due to their high mortality rate aboard ships crossing the ocean. This may have been true, because in addition to the mortality rate, the $100.00 fare would have been quite dear. The ship arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on May 27, 1867. The family first moved to Chicago and found work for the rest of 1867 and through the following winter. Early in 1868 the men traveled to Pawnee County, Nebraska to file homesteads, while the women and children stayed in Chicago, following them later. The families first built sod houses, and later built log homes. After the required five years, on May 10, 1873 Frank Wenzl Sr., and his sons Anton, Charles and Herman received their homesteaded land. The county clerk's records show Frank received the southwest 1/4 of section 7, Township 3, range 11, in Clear Creek Precinct. All together, he and his sons claimed the entire section No. 7, or one square mile of land. Franz "Frank" Wenzl and his wife Josephina Belcha had the following children: 1. Frank Joseph Wenzl who married Anna Loukata. 2. Maria Anna Wenzl who married John Bernadt and Joseph Seidl. 3. Anton Wenzl who married Anna "Annie" Kohn. 4. Charles Wenzl who married Barbara Kohn. 5. Joseph Wenzl who married Anna Vritiska. 6. Alois "Louis" Philip Wenzl who married Mary Hauner. 7. Theresa Rosa Wenzl who married Joseph Vritiska. 8. John Ferdinand Wenzl who married Josephina Soucek. 9. Hermann Edward Wenzl who married Frances "Fannie" Koppa, January 17, 1883 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
