Mr. Woitaszewski died Sunday morning, January 25 at the home of his son, Paul in Loup City, following an illness that started in July. His health had been failing for the past few years. He was 84 years of age. The deceased was born in Poland on September 6, 1857. He was united in marriage to Mary Lewandowski November 9, 1880 in Poland. The following year they came to the United States and settled in Pittsburgh, Penn., where they resided for a year and a half. They came to Nebraska from Pittsburgh and farmed seven miles north of Ashton. Thirty years ago they retired and came to town, residing here until a few months ago when they went to Loup City to spend the winter months at the home of their son, Paul. At the age of 29 years, Mr. Woitaszewski was accidentaly [sic] shot in the right eye, which made him partially blind for a few years and later affected his left eye, causing him to be totally blind the rest of his life. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Paul and John of Loup City, Walter of Woodriver and Frank of Heron, Minn.; five daughters: Mrs. Clara Sowokinas of Scottsbluff, Mrs. Pete Guzinski of Ashton, Mrs. John Roy of Loup City and Mrs. R. A. Stoll and Miss Regene Woitaszewski both of Columbus; 40 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death. A daughter, Mary, died June 29, 1923 at the age of 41 years, and a son, Leon, age 45, died September 16, 1939.
