Description	:	The son of John and Fanny Davis Olin of Marcy, Oneida County, N.Y. Franklin was a Civil War veteran - mustered into Co. G 117th New York Infantry, at Utica, N.Y 13 August 1862. Gave his age as 21 years, and a farmer by occupation. As Frank Olin, appears on the 1860 Census for Marcy as 17 years old, so he put his age up by three years to enlist. Gave his age as 21 years, and a farmer by occupation. As Frank Olin, appears on the 1860 Census for Marcy as 17 years old, so he put his age up by three years to enlist. At the battle of Drewry's bluff Va. 16 May 1864, Franklin is listed as 'killed in action' on the regimental casualty records. In the New York town clerk registers for Marcy, it states 'he was mortally wounded in battle of Drewry's Bluff, was buried near said battlefield'. After the War, casualties from this battle were reinterred at the City Point National Cemetery, most in 'unknown' graves as their identity had been lost. Only a small number of casualties from the 117th regiment from this battle, are buried in marked graves at City Point. Franklin is buried in an 'unknown' grave. Martin S Olin, four years older than his brother survived the war, and died in 1933 in Ainsworth, Nebraska. This shows the cruel nature of the fortunes of war.
