Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Correctionville Assembly of God Church in Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Keith Byers officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon. Franklin "Frank" Herman Putzier was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Cushing, Iowa, the son of Elvin "Elvie" and Maymie (Rohwedder) Putzier. As a child, he was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He grew up and was educated in country schools in the area and the started working for local farmers. In 1955, he became employed with Jensen Construction out of Des Moines and began his career in bridge construction working on crews throughout Iowa and Nebraska as a foreman. In 1981, he started working at IBP where he retired in 1986. After that he worked with McDermott's Family Midway as a mechanic, operator of the merry-go-round and whatever job called for the attention of the old man. He enjoyed the traveling and the people at the midway, often saying he had fun and got paid for it. In general, Frank was a hard working kind of guy and a kid at heart. On Oct. 17, 1959, Frank was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Mason in Platsmouth, Neb. He was a member of the Correctionville Assembly of God Church. Frank was a true outdoors man, fishing, hunting, camping, searching for mushrooms, and just sitting outside watching his garden grow. He also liked to tinker and play cards, but above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Survivors left to cherish their memories of Frank include Bonnie, his wife of 50 years; his children, Theresa (Jerry) Barcus of Sioux City, Tammy (Dan) Booth of Storm Lake, Iowa, Franklin Putzier Jr. of Ida Grove, Iowa, Tony (Maggie) Putzier of Correctionville, Iowa, and Chris (April) Putzier of Cushing, Iowa; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, "Fritz" ("Sis") Putzier of Anthon; two sisters, Evelyn Livermore-Fischer of Lynchburg, Mo., and "Tootie" (Ed) Lapko of North Edwards, Calif.; and two close friends, Phil Yockey and Pete Collins, both of Anthon; along with numerous other friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hank Putzier; a sister, Helen Fundermann; and a granddaughter, Rachel Putzier.
