Pallbearers were Roy Highley, Gene Banes, Bill Yuska, Don Dvorak, Steve Noll, and Jim Riensche. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Stolba and Bryon Stolba. Burial was in National cemetery, Vining. The pickup that Banes was apparently driving failed to make a curve on a county gravel road, a mile north of Elberon, and hit a tree and landed in a ditch. Born April 1, 1937 near Clutier the son of Frank and Agnes Yilek Banes, he attended school in the Clutier Wednesday Banes area, and graduated from Clutier high school. He was married to Jacqueline A. Smith May 23, 1958 in Cedar Rapids. He was employed a s a warehouse foreman for Construction Materials Inc. and was a service representative with Bruner Water Conditioning of Milwaukee. Wisconsin. He worked for 20 years for Cedar Rapids Pump and Supply. Banes was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist church. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Rodney Alan, Cedar Rapids, and Robert at home; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Banes. Cedar Rapids; three brothers. Vernon, Kansas City, Missouri; Richard. Palo, and Roger, Sumner, Washington; two sisters. Carlene Stolba, Buena Vista, Colorado, and Betty Yuska, Cedar Rapids; a step-grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Banes. Oelwein.
