Read More	CASCADE, Iowa - Franklin Roland Greenwood, 74, of 608 Fourth Ave. SE, Cascade, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a short illness. In due respect of "Rollie's" wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. The family will be honoring his life with an "open house" for friends to meet at the family home at 608 Fourth Ave. SE, Cascade, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Greenwood retired in 2000 from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, where he was employed as an electrician for 13 years. He was born on a farm near Farley, on Dec. 17, 1932, son of Edward and Gladys (Beatty) Greenwood. Later, he moved to the farm west of Cascade. He married Patricia Jane Taylor on Dec. 4, 1954, in Greenwood, S.C. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Roland began his very committed involvement in city government in 1966, first as a councilman, then elected as mayor for the next 16 years, then another council term and a mayor term in the 1990s. Following this, he was appointed to a six-year term on the Cascade Municipal Utility Board of Trustees. He was a dedicated member of the Cascade Fire Department and the Cascade American Legion Post 528. He also was a member of the Cascade Presbyterian Church. Roland's hobbies were woodworking, photography and spending time with his family. He was so proud of his son, daughters and grandchildren, and especially fond of the many vacations he spent with them. Rollie was the "driver" on all of the trips taken coast-to-coast in the family motor home, his pride and joy. Rollie will be missed by everyone who shared this eventful life with him. Roland is survived by his wife, Patty, of Cascade; a son, Kim (Patti) Greenwood, of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Kandy (Michael) Clancy, of Port Angeles, Wash., Kristy McAllister, of Tiffin, and Kerry (Paul) Knepper, of Williamsburg; and seven grandchildren, Kory (Alicia) Greenwood and Molly (Zachary) Schuett, both of Cedar Rapids, Erin Clancy and Kevin Clancy, both of Seattle, Kristopher McAllister and Samantha McAllister, both of Tiffin, and Paulie Knepper, of Williamsburg. Other survivors include three sisters-in-law, Linda Greenwood, of Cascade, Mona Kleeman, of Maquoketa, and Verlene Schumacher, of Davenport; and two nephews, Steve and Bruce Greenwood, both of Cascade. Roland is also survived by his loving dog, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward, in 1964, and Gladys, in 1965; a sister-in-law, Gail (Dorene) Greenwood, in 1985; and his various precious poodles, Kipper, Katy and Bowser.
