At the age of nineteen years Mr Berry united... Read More	B Died at his home near Brooklyn Friday Oct 7, 1898 of cancer, Franklin T Beery, age 43 years, 5 months and 21 days. Deceased was born April 17, 1855 in Rockingham County, Virginia. He came west in 1879 locating in Iowa. In 1885 he was married to Ella Grce Wheeler. By this union five children were born, four of whom, two boys and two girls who survive the father, the other being called to the other world Nov 24, 1892, at the age of four years. At the age of nineteen years Mr Berry united with the Baptist church at his old home and in December 1893 he joined Grace M E church by letter and for the past four years has served as a member of the official board of that society. He was a man of deep religious convictions and his whole life has been in harmony with his religious belief. In 1886 he bought a farm two and one-half miles southeast of Brooklyn which he has improved in every way. He was a good citizen and neighbor, a kind husband and father, lived as he would have others live and consequently made friends with all whom he came in contact. He was an honored member of the Poweshiek Lodge NO 198 Knights of Pythias and the large number of Knights in attendance at the funeral spoke plainer than words of the esteem in which he was held and the good will which they bore him. The funeral was held at Grace M E church Sunday at 11 O'clock conducted by Rev Dr Busby. The church was filled with people to gather instruction from the sermon and pay the last tribute of respect to one whom they had loved in life. At the conclusion of the services the remains were conveyed to the IOOF cemetery, preceded by the members of the K of P lodge in a body. The beautiful and impressive ritualistic services of the order were held and all that was mortal of Franklin T Beery was consigned to the grave. To the sorrowing widow and fatherless children is extended the earnest sympathy of the entire community.
