Description	:	Franz August Mau immigrated to the United States in 1910. His wife was Otille Luise Marie Nell. They were the parents of three sons: Carl Franz August Mau, Emil Otto Gustav Mau and Joseph Hans Mau. Luise, known as Louisa, died tragically on 7 May 1922 when she fell down the stairs to the cellar. Franz was a shoemaker and a shoe merchant in Westside. He was the son of Gottfried Mau and his first wife Charlotte Pieper. She died 10 Dec 1864 in Germany, two days after giving birth to Franz. The only mother he knew was his step mother Charlotta Louisa Verwiebe who married his father on 16 May 1865 in Germany.
