TAWES DIES SUDDENLY Crisfield Resident Passes Away At Home Near Town; End Comes Saturday After Short Illness; While Deceased Had Suffered From Diabetes For Sometime, His Condition Was Not Considered Serious Until Few Days Before His Death. Fred B. Tawes died at his home on the Jenkins Creek road near Crisfield Saturday afternoon after a short illness. He had been suffering from diabetes for some time, but his condition was not considered serious until a few days before his death. Mr. Tawes was about his daily work as usual on Monday and Tuesday of last week, but on Wednesday he complained of feeling ill and on Thursday was compelled to take to bed. Saturday morning he lapsed into a coma and died at 3 o'clock in the afternoon without regaining consciousness. The deceased was a waterman and knew every creek, cove and inlet in the lower part of Somerset county; he knew where to find fish and crabs and other denizens of the deep, and the places where wild fowl were most likely to be found. He was a member of Asbury M. E. Church and was always regular in attendance at its services. To him it was a pleasure to be in the house of worship and he always entered heartily into whatever services were being held. He was a Christian in every sense of the word, and his life was an inspiration to every one with whom he came into contact. Fred B. Tawes was know for his rugged honesty and was a man who always espoused the cause of whatever he believed to be right. His character was beyond reproach. His word was his bond. In his death the entire community has lost a friend. He was for many years a member of Eastern Shore Council, No. 103, Junior Order of United American Mechanics, and at the time of his death was its Recording Secretary. He was also a member of Annamessex Lodge, No. 32, Knights of Pythias. He was 57 years of age, and was born and reared and spent his entire life in this community. He is survived by his widow, who before her marriage, was Miss Nancy Lawson; and four sons, Rev. Roy L. Tawes, of Ridgely; I. William Tawes, of Claymont, Del.; Fred B. Tawes, Jr., of Baltimore; and John Paul Tawes, of Crisfield. Funeral services were held at Asbury M. E. Church Monday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. J. Sard.
