Willhoft, youngest son of John and Julia Willhoft, was born in Long Grove, Iowa, in the year 1881. He was killed in an automobile accident in Troy, New York on August 5, 1945, on his 64th birthday. Mr. Willhoft was raised in Iowa and when he was in his early teens came to Omaha with his family where he was employed at the Union Stock Yards. At the outbreak of the Spanish-American war, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served until the end of the war. Again during the First World war he enlisted and served his country until the war was over. Following the armistice he located in Troy, New York, where he took up the occupation of interior decorator, in which he continued until his accidental death. Mr. Willhoft was raised and baptized in the Lutheran church. He has a brother, John D. Willhoft (# 31754860) of Central City; Mrs Anna Hall of Ithaca and Mrs. Lilly McAllister of Grand Island, and several nephews and nieces. The funeral was held in the Swanson funeral home in Valley, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 10. Rev. James K. Irwin of Ithaca Methodist church was in charge of the services.
