Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Bev Minor will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Mr. Meyer was born Sept. 5, 1910, to Andrew and Marie (Hug) Meyer at Silver Creek. He attended District 48 School and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1927. He married Loretta Campain on Aug. 22, 1938, at Fullerton. He farmed for more than 50 years and also worked at the Grand Island Ordnance Plant and Grosch Irrigation. He served as secretary/treasurer of the Platte Valley Rural Fire District for 26 years, served on the District 48 School Board, Silver Creek School Board and the Silver Creek Cemetery Board. He received the Aksarben Good Neighborhood Award on June 6, 1986. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Survivors include a son, Milton Meyer of Arkansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Joseph) Mohanna of Omaha and Marcia (Mrs. Jim) Warnecke of Columbus; one sister, Margaret Garrig of Texas; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters, Alice Burruss, Lena Hansen and Clara Karges; one brother, John Meyer; and three grandsons. The Grand Island Independent, Jan. 29, 2000
