Description	:	Fred J. "Chic" Bussey, son of Fred and Frances (Race) Bussey, was born November 29, 1925, at Norfolk, Nebraska. Chic died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Chic graduated from Norfolk High School in 1943, and went into the Army in January of 1944. He was a Combat Wounded Veteran of World War II, and after 10 months in Army hospitals, was discharged. They lived in Norfolk until he retired as... Read More	Fred J. "Chic" Bussey, son of Fred and Frances (Race) Bussey, was born November 29, 1925, at Norfolk, Nebraska. Chic died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Chic graduated from Norfolk High School in 1943, and went into the Army in January of 1944. He was a Combat Wounded Veteran of World War II, and after 10 months in Army hospitals, was discharged. Chic then attended Norfolk Junior College, where he was subsequently inducted into their "Hall of Success". Chic was married to Katherine Grosserode on January 28, 1955. They lived in Norfolk until he retired as the Norfolk Fire Chief, and moved to Battle Creek in 1970. Chic was then employed by the Department of Roads as an associate engineer until he retired in 1990. Chic was awarded the Aksarben Good Neighbor award, was also inducted into the Norfolk Junior College "Hall of Success", and was made an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. He initiated and implemented the Elkhorn Valley Mutual Aid District, and assisted in forming the Junior Fire Patrol. Chic was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served on the Battle Creek City Council, Battle Creek School Board, and the St. Patrick's Parish Council. Chic is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Katherine Bussey of Battle Creek, Nebraska; children, Steve (wife Connie) Bussey of Owosso, Michigan, Jeff (wife Dawn) Bussey of Albion, Nebraska, Ann (husband Shorty) Barnes of Battle Creek, Nebraska, Pat (wife Pam) Bussey of Battle Creek, and Lisa (husband Art) Alvarado of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister, "Neeve" Wagner of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by: parents; brother and two sisters. Interment was in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Battle Creek, Nebraska.
