Jeffery Clark Bussey, son of Fred J. “Chic” and Katherine Anne (Grosserode) Bussey, was born February 11, 1956 at Norfolk, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, attended Grade School and Jr. High in Norfolk, then moved to Battle Creek with his family, where he graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1974. He attended Northeast Community College 1974-1976 and Wayne State College 1976-1978, where he earned his degree in Physical Education and Coaching. On June 3, 1978, Jeff married Dawn Bowen in Fremont, NE. They made their home in Wayne, NE for a year before moving to Albion, NE where they have made their home for the past 39 years. Jeff taught physical education to elementary students and coached a variety of Jr. High and High School sports at Albion/Boone Central Public School from 1979-2014 when he retired. After retirement, he took a position teaching at Spalding Academy and continued until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Jeff had a passion for teaching and coaching kids, which positively impacted innumerable lives throughout his career. It also earned him the opportunity to be an assistant coach for the 2014 Shrine Bowl, coach teams in State Football Championship games, State Wresting and State Basketball. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends, especially playing with his four grandchildren. He is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Albion, has been a Youth Leader for 20+ years, and has enjoyed volunteering his time with the Pheasants Forever Youth Mentor Hunt program. Jeff is survived by his wife Dawn of Albion, NE; two daughters: Trisha (Travis) Beiermann of Bennington, NE; Kelli (Randy) Bauer of Kearney, NE; four grandchildren: Logan and Claire Beiermann, Isaac and Bennett Bauer; his mother: Katherine Bussey of Battle Creek, NE; four siblings: Steve (Connie) Kobe of Owosso, MI; Ann (Shorty) Barnes and Pat (Pam) Bussey of Battle Creek, NE; Lisa (Art) Alvarado of Carpenter, WY; along with In-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and many, many students. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father Chic Bussey; parents-in-law Carlene Bowen and John Bowen; and sister-in-law Jill Chapman.
