Hinsley, 73 September 20, 1926 ~ May 4, 2000 Fred came from a large, hard-working family. His father, Charles, was quite a bit older than his mother, Lula. Charles was born in Nebraska, and had a 5th grade education. Lula, born in Oklahoma, made it to 7th grade, and their first 2 sons completed 7th grade. However, Fred, their 3rd oldest, completed 1 year of high school by time he was 19 years old and enlisted for World War II. The 1940 US Census had a question about where the family lived in 1935 (Depression times). The Hinsley's had been in the same house, at 967 North 25th Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska from at least 1935 to 1940. The 1940 US Census lists: Charles, 65, b.NE, head, laborer sewer project Lula, 39, b.OK, wife Ray, 20, b.NE, son,laborer, new worker, driver road work Howard, 17, b.NE, son Fred, 13, b.MN, son, in school Dorothy, 12, b.MN, daughter, in school Arline, 11, b.NE, daughter, in school Donald, 10, b.NE, son, in school Donna Jean, 5, b.NE, daughter, in school Richard, 4, b.NE, son Robert, 2, b.NE, son Donald Warren, 3, b. NE, step-son Delores Hinsley, 1, b.NE, daughter John Hinsley, 3 months, b. NE, son Fred was living in Nebraska, but went to Fort Leavenworth in Kansas to enlist on January 31, 1945. He was 18 years old, still single, and the examiner described him as a semi-skilled chauffeur and/or driver: bus, taxi, truck or tractor. Fred was a World War II veteran, serving from Jan. 31, 1945-Oct. 26, 1946. After the war, he returned to Omaha, Nebraska. He married Eleanor B. Griger. He continued to work in the trucking industry. In 1954, he was a driver for Highway Motor Transport, and he and Eleanor were living at 818 N. 18th, Omaha, NE. In 1958, he was a dockman for Buckingham Transit, and the family was living at 4019 Charles, Omaha. Fred J.
