Description	:	Fred J. Valenta, 77, well known area resident died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 1981, in St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo. He became ill at his home in Clutier and was taken by ambulance to the Waterloo hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had been in failing health the past nine years. Mrs. Edward Lillis and Mrs. Lee Valenta were in charge of Mass offerings. The funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic church, Clutier, with Rev. Robert Cizek, the celebrant. Mrs. Donald McLean, organist, accompanied the I. C. church choir. Mrs. William Peterzalek, Mrs. Fred Hess and Mrs. Richard Wiebbecke cared for the floral tributes. Active pallbearers were William Peterzalek, Richard Wiebbecke, James Nachazel, Fred Hess, Carl Chizek and Milo Sevcik. Honorary bearers were Adolph Sevcik, Albert Podhajsky, Fred Cizek and Louis Hosek. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus cemetery, rural Clutier, Iowa. Fred Joseph Valenta was born in Elberon on Oct. 8, 1903, son of Frank and Josephine Jarousek Valenta. He attended the Elberon school, where he grew to manhood. On Nov. 22, 1927, he was married to Miss Stella Podhajsky. The couple farmed in Carroll township for 32 years, when they sold their farm and moved to Clutier. He operated the Clutier Locker for seven years, until retirement. Mr. Valenta was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clutier, K. D. Lodge in Clutier and Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, Stella, five children, Robert V. Valenta, Clutier, Donald F. Valenta and Susan (Mrs. Larry) Howard, both of Traer, Richard A. Valenta, Kansas City, Mo., and Carolyn (Mrs. Paul) Gerlman, Tuscon, Ariz. and nine grandchildren.
