Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Hatcher Carter; his children, Kathy Hardee (Wayne), Angie Parrish (David), Alicia Crawford and Faron Carter; sister, Shirley Harris; brother, D.J. Carter. Mr. Carter was a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Karen Crawford (Josh), Steven Hardee (Heather), Jody Parrish (Alisa), Jason Chesser (Megan), Michael Hardee (Amanda), Justin Parrish (Carrie), Jennifer Higginbotham (Travis), and Jessica Hannah (Kyle), and 16 great-grandchildren. Mr. Carter was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served our country proudly in WWII. He received three bronze service stars as well as recognition as an expert rifleman. After serving our country, Mr. Carter resided in Clay Hill, Florida where he built his home and raised his family. He spent his day as a logger in the area. After retiring, Mr. Carter spent his days farming and hunting. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Maxville, 8635 Maxville Blvd, with Bro. Charlie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, today, from 6-8 pm at the church.
