Description	:	COLBY -- Freda Mae Flaming, 93, retired housekeeper of Bethel Deaconess Hospital, died Wednesday (Jan. 10, 2001) at her residence. She was born June 10, 1907, to Tobias and Elizabeth (Warkentin) Schmidt in Medford, Okla. They preceded her in death. She married H.G. Flaming Aug. 17, 1930, in rural Medford. He preceded her in death March 26, 1999. She moved to Newton in August 1967. She retired from Bethel Deaconess Hospital in 1969. She moved into Bethesda Home in Goessel in February 1996. In 1998, she moved to Colby. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and gardening. Survivors include: two daughters, Leona Ruth Siebert of Colby and Alice Illene Schmidt of Hesston; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by: three brothers, Albert Schmidt, Willie Schmidt and David Schmidt; two sisters, Juanita Neufeld and Lorena Friesen; four half-brothers; seven half-sisters; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Funeral service was Tuesday at Newton Bible Church with Pastor Ted Veer officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory. Memorials have been established with Newton Bible Church and Gideons International in care of the funeral home.as
