Description	:	CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — Frederick Carl Dallape, 86, passed away peacefully November 4, 2018, at Cumberland County Hospice, Crossville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Marckel of Defiance, Ohio. Fred was born in Johnstown, Pa., May 7, 1932, the son of Emma (Zecker) Dallape and Louis Dallape. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Marckel of Defiance, Ohio. Fred was born in Johnstown, Pa., May 7, 1932, the son of Emma (Zecker) Dallape and Louis Dallape. He was the last surviving sibling of eight children. Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Emma, Lou, Bill, Joe, John, Ray and Eddie. He leaves behind his stepchildren of 51 years, Sandra (Steve) Longenecker, Karen (Richard) Bricker and Daniel (Jane) Tuttle; and grandchildren, Kerry and Kylie, Kristin and Michael. Also surviving are daughters, Chris (Steve) Kissner and Kay (Tim) Eaton; and grandchildren, Rebeccah, Andrea, Adam, Corinne, Kyle, Patrick, Erin, Kelsey, Philip and Alex. Fred also is survived by 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Fred attended Ferndale High School in Johnstown, where he and his brothers dominated the sports programs. He played football, basketball and ran cross country. He joined the ROTC program and in his senior year joined the Pennsylvania National Guard, where he was called into active duty. He was stationed in Germany with Company B 628 Tank Battalion. He served for 24 months and received his GED while in active service. Following his discharge from the Army, he went back to Johnstown where he was offered football scholarships to Penn State, Michigan State, University of Pittsburgh and University of Richmond. He chose Richmond because he could play varsity as a 20-year-old freshman. Mid-season, he separated his shoulder. He finished his first year and went back to Pennsylvania, worked to pay for his college and finished at the University of Pittsburgh, getting his degree in mechanical engineering.∼Frederick Carl Dallape, 86, passed away peacefully Nov. 4 at Cumberland County Hospice in Crossville. Fred's career path led him to Defiance, OH, to become the superintendent of plant maintenance at General Motors. He worked there for 10 years. During this period, he married Pat. He also began volunteering for the Defiance Area YMCA. He played Old Timers football and then became a coach of the Pirates team. He served two years as president of the board of the YMCA and was awarded the prestigious Service to Youth Award in 1970. He also started a Wednesday night golf league for men at Kettering Country Club. At age 40 he began to take piano lessons from his sister-in-law Bonnie Marckel. Fred's favorite song "My Way" will be played at his memorial service. Fred's career path led him away from Defiance with the next stop being Danville, IL, as manager of plant engineering and maintenance for General Motors. From that move came many more. Never one to let grass grow too long under their feet, Fred and Pat next went to Broken Arrow, OK; Camarillo, CA; Denver, CO; Tiffin, OH; Jackson, MI; Redding, PA; Cedar Falls, WI; and Laredo, TX. Along the way they golfed, fished, learned to snow ski in their fifties and traveled. Fred also learned to cook. He made his own pasta, sauce, cannoli, raviolis and bread. Their final move was to Fairfield Glade, the place they called home the longest, 21 years. There they golfed, gardened and Fred managed the marina after retirement to keep himself occupied. He also enjoyed his woodworking shop. He was an avid reader and loved to travel. His favorite trips were to Italy to search his ancestry and meet his Italian relatives and a trip to Spain which were the highlights of their golden years. Published on November 26, 2018
