Description	:	Funeral services for Fred Luft Jr., of 19673 Marigold Drive will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from Christ United Methodist Church, the Rev. Keith Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Luft, 66, who served 10 years as caretaker of the Logan County Fairgrounds, died today at his home. He was born June 6, 191 in Cedar Creek, the son of Frederick and Amalia Helmut Luft Sr., and attended school in Sterling. He married Ellen Meyerholz Oct. 13, 1940, in Sterling and the couple fanned for many years in the Crook, Padroni and Memo areas. Mr. Luft worked for Glen Sessions in the oil fields in Colorado and Wyoming in the early 1960's and then became caretaker of the fairgrounds. A task that enabled him to come in contact with thousands of people each year during the Logan County Fair. He later worked for several campaigns at the Great Western Sugar Co., and for the past four years was a part-time employee at the Logan County Sanitary Landfill.Mr. Luft was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Logan County Sheriff's Posse. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ellen Luft of Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Carla Steele of Sterling; a son, Larry Luft of Julesburg; two brothers, Alex Luft and Harry Luft, both of Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Meyerbolz of Sterling and Mrs Mildred Lebada of Greeley and four grandsons, Greg Steele and Ken Steele, both of Sterling and Pat Luft and Scott Luft, both of Julesburg Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
