He was born March 22, 1915, in Greenleaf, Kansas, the son of Adolph C. and Mary Cedela (Swoboda) Geffert. He moved with his family to Humboldt in 1918 and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1934. Read More	************************************* Published Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 - Chanute, KS Frederick Funston Geffert, 88, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt, Kansas. He was born March 22, 1915, in Greenleaf, Kansas, the son of Adolph C. and Mary Cedela (Swoboda) Geffert. He moved with his family to Humboldt in 1918 and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1934. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting in Normandy, France. He received a Purple Heart. On Aug. 17, 1945, he married Miriam Ruth Dunkleburger in Reading, Pa. She died Dec. 5, 1972. He was a farmer, raising livestock and grains. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the Humboldt Presbyterian Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed making birdhouses, playing bingo, watching movies and visiting the farm and participated in many nursing home activities. Survivors include a son, Robert Michael Geffert, of Iola, KS; a daughter, Kathleen Jefferis, of Paola, KS; long-time friend, Ruth Beyma, of Humboldt, KS; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers; and a sister. Graveside services will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas, led by the Rev. David Meier. Military honors will be conducted by the Boerstler-May American Legion Post 170. ***************************************
