Description	:	Fred H. Gompert, 75, a life long resident of Mitchell, passed away in the Scottsbluff Hospital Monday morning, March 7, 1983. He was born September 5, 1907 in Mitchell, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Haubruck Gompert, a pioneer family. He attended Scotts Bluff County Schools and the Mitchell High School. He farmed for a few years and then began work as a salesman for B & C Motor Company of Mitchell and received the honor as "Top Hatter" salesman from the Ford Motor Company for a number of years. He also maintaned an interest in farming and... Read More	Fred H. Gompert, 75, a life long resident of Mitchell, passed away in the Scottsbluff Hospital Monday morning, March 7, 1983. He was born September 5, 1907 in Mitchell, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Haubruck Gompert, a pioneer family. He attended Scotts Bluff County Schools and the Mitchell High School. He farmed for a few years and then began work as a salesman for B & C Motor Company of Mitchell and received the honor as "Top Hatter" salesman from the Ford Motor Company for a number of years. He also maintaned an interest in farming and raising cattle. He married Mayrene Moore in Mitchell on March 22, 1935. He was a member of the Federated Church of Mitchell, was active on boards and functions of the church, was a member of Mitchell Masonic Lodge #263, a director of the North Platte Valley Historical Society, a member of the Mitchell Booster Club, and an active supporter of sporting events, and served for many years as a member of Fairview #34 School District Board. Surviving are his wife Mayrene, a daughter Mrs. Alva (Fredene) Pietsch of Kimball, a sister Mrs Mary Roe of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and three grandchildren, Jon, Jeanine and Jennifer Pietsch. He was preceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John and Gerhardt, and a sister Gertrude. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9, 1983 at 10 A. M. in the Federated Church in Mitchell with Rev. Carlyle Smith officiating. Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery. Memorials to the Federated Church of Mitchell, The Mitchell High School and West Nebraska General Hospital have been established.
