Funeral services were held Monday, July 9, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with the Reverend Ed Newbury officiating. A second service was also held Monday at The Federated Church of Mitchell, with the Reverend Carlyle Smith officiating. Burial was at the Mitchell Cemetery. Funeral services were held Monday, July 9, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with the Reverend Ed Newbury officiating. A second service was also held Monday at The Federated Church of Mitchell, with the Reverend Carlyle Smith officiating. Burial was at the Mitchell Cemetery. She was born on September 17, 1908, in Montavallo, Mo. to William A. and Myrtle (Schwartz) Moore. After completing her education, she taught school in Wyoming and Nebraska. The last place she taught was Fairview #34, where she met her future husband. She married Fred Gompert on March 22, 1935, in Mitchell, Neb. They lived in Mitchell until Fred's death in March of 1983. She moved to Kimball in 1984 to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Federated Church in Mitchell. She was also a member of PEO, Chapter GN and Eastern Star. She received a 50-year member pin from Eastern Star. She was a member of the Dutch Flats Birthday Club from the Mitchell area. In 1975, she received a national plaque for her work on the Bicentennial celebration. She was also an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fredene and Al Pietsch of Kimball; one sister, Irene Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren Jon Pietsch and his wife Lara of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jeanine Pope and her husband Jeff of Ft. Morgan, Colo., and Jennifer Roley and her husband Marc of Ft. Collins, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Roley, Alicyn Roley, Jonathon Pope, Jayne Pope and Rachel Pietsch; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, two brothers one sister. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kimball County Manor, Friends of the Library or to the Federated Church of Mitchell. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
