As noted in a portion of our issue last week, Mr. Fred Grusendorf, an old and esteemed resident of this city, died at his home on Third Street at five o'clock Saturday morning, March 20th, of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Grusendorf was born at Westenholz, Hanover, Germany, July 18th, 1826 and was consequently in his 60th year. He came to America in 1848, and located in Chicago, where he remained for four years. As noted in a portion of our issue last week, Mr. Fred Grusendorf, an old and esteemed resident of this city, died at his home on Third Street at five o'clock Saturday morning, March 20th, of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Grusendorf was born at Westenholz, Hanover, Germany, July 18th, 1826 and was consequently in his 60th year. He came to America in 1848, and located in Chicago, where he remained for four years. In 1852 he came to Lyons, where he has since resided. About a year ago, owing to failing health, he went to Dakota and went to work on his farm there, hoping that the change might be beneficial to him. He came home about two weeks ago. He leaves, besides his wife, four daughters and a son to mourn his loss. The deceased was a member of the German Association and the Lyons Schuetzen Verein. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, from his late residence, Rev. Mr. Valentiner, of Clinton, officiating.
