Meitha Jenkins) Bernard (died as infant 1899) Frederick Fett, Sr. Frederick Fett, Sr., a well known and respected resident of Van Horne, was called from our midst last Tuesday, May 12th, 1914 at $:20 in the afternoon, having reached the age of seventy-one years, eleven months and eight days. Death was caused by the bursting of a blood vessel in the head. Mr. Fett was born in alt Exliss bie Demitz, (Kaliss near Domitz) Mecklenburg, Germany, coming to America in 1867 and settling in Pennsylvania, coming to Iowa where he has lived a good many years. He was married to Wilhelmina Webert in 1874 in Iowa county. For about thirty years the family lived on a farm two and a half miles east of town, but four years ago they moved to town where they have since resided. Mr. Fett has not enjoyed the best of health for the past few years, but was feeling unusually well the last two weeks of his life. He passed away in less than an hour after he was taken sick. There were born of the union, sixteen children, eight daughters and eight sons, one dying in infancy. These children besides the good wife, many relatives and friends are left to mourn his departure. The children are: Mrs. C.H. Nenaber of Willow Lake, S.D.; Mrs. H. Siders of Ireton, Ia.; Mrs. Geo. Farmer, Le Mars, Ia.; Mrs. John Paulsen, Paullina, Ia.; Mrs. H. Groepper, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Mrs. Fred Kirchner, Garrison Ia.; Mrs. C. Schellhase, New Hampton, Ia.; Mrs. Chas. Andrews, Van Horne; Henry of Le Mars, Ia.; William of Archer, Ia.; Ed, east of town, Fred, Arnold, Herman, and Arthur at home. All were present except Mrs. Farmer, her husband being present. All had their families present except Mr. Paulsen and William. The following relatives and friends were present: John Shroder and wife of Holstien, Otto Weber (Webert) of Winterset, Mr. H. Webert, Williamsburg, Mrs. Frugel of Davenport, Mr. H. Reiman of Le Mars, H. Gensick and wife of Cedar Rapids, J. Bierchenl wife of Vinton, H. Glendorf and wife of Williamsburg, Mrs. F. Zimmerman of Williamsburg, Mrs. A.W. Lee of Waterloo, Henry and John Gross, Garrison. Twenty-eight grandchildren are left to miss the presence of their dear grandpa. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon after which the body was interred in the Keystone cemetery.
