He was born March 24, 1931 in Indianapolis, the son of Louis M. and Pearl (Musgrove) Jones. On Aug. 29, 1954, he married Louise C. Howery. She survives. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and was in the U.S. Marines Corp. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jones, 78, North Vernon, died at 1:38 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at Jennings County Healthcare Center. He was born March 24, 1931 in Indianapolis, the son of Louis M. and Pearl (Musgrove) Jones. On Aug. 29, 1954, he married Louise C. Howery. She survives. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and was in the U.S. Marines Corp. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an artist and a published poet. He was a member of Tipton Historical Society and had attended Trinity Wesleyan Church in Tipton. He had lived in Tipton until moving to North Vernon in 2008. Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Phil W. Jones of North Vernon, Dale P. Jones of Kiezer, Ore. and Michael L. Jones of Fishers; a daughter, Catherine L. Jones of North Vernon; a brother, Delbert M. Jones of Lancaster, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home in Tipton. The Rev. William Degenkolb will officiate. Burial will be at Tipton's Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
