Description	:	Fred William Conrad Luebbe was born a few miles east of Seward on January 9, 1870. On the 13th day after birth he was taken in a lumber wagon to Emerald, Nebr., where he was baptized by a Missouri Synod Lutheran pastor, because regular services were not held here at that time. On April 6, 1884, he was confirmed in the old Stone Church, by pastor C. E. Bode, and received into communicant membership of the Immanuel Congregation. Read More	Fred William Conrad Luebbe was born a few miles east of Seward on January 9, 1870. On the 13th day after birth he was taken in a lumber wagon to Emerald, Nebr., where he was baptized by a Missouri Synod Lutheran pastor, because regular services were not held here at that time. On April 6, 1884, he was confirmed in the old Stone Church, by pastor C. E. Bode, and received into communicant membership of the Immanuel Congregation. He was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Baumbach on April 8, 1892. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters and one son. Mr. Luebbe was an active member of the congregation at Middle Creek, always having its welfare at heart. Since May 1898 he was a voting member, and four years later was elected secretary, which position he faithfully filled for nearly 38 years, to the time of his death. On last Wednesday morning, July 24, at about six o'clock, he passed away at his home, about eleven miles east of Seward, after a lingering ailment (cancer), at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 15 days, after having spent his entire life in this community. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Niewedde and Mrs. John Katt; one son, Fred, Jr.; two sons-in-law, six grandchildren; three brothers, Henry, William and Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Gade, of Staplehurst, and Mrs. William Ihde, besides many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 27, 1940, from Immanuel Lutheran Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. W. C. Ollenburg. His former pastor, the Rev. A. Merz, spoke briefly in the German language. A memorial wreath was given by the relatives from the Lutheran Hour, amounting to $10.65 Seward Independent, Seward, NE, Thurs, August 1, 1940
