Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Rosa Wilson Thompson and widower of Audrey Bowman Thompson. He was the son of the late Olin V. Thompson and the late Evelyn Wren Thompson. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Rosa Wilson Thompson and widower of Audrey Bowman Thompson. He was the son of the late Olin V. Thompson and the late Evelyn Wren Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a retired painter and member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Dianne Reeves of Daytona Beach, Fla., Tanya Cooper and Towanna "LaLa" Wilson, both of Gaffney; two sons, Frederick Thompson Jr. of Gaffney and Michael Thompson of Six Mile; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Gaffney and Carolyn Moss of Blacksburg; a brother, Olin Thompson of Columbia; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel conducted by the Rev. Frank Northcutt. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Thompson, Kirk Thompson, Robbie Moss, Jim Davis, Troy Cooper and James Wilson. The family is at the residence and will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SRMC Outpatient Hospice, 120 Heywood Ave., Suite 360, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302. He was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, a retired painter,and a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Dianne Reeves of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Tanya Cooper and Towanna "LaLa" Wilson, both of Gaffney; two sons, Frederick Thompson Jr. of Gaffney and Michael Thompson of Six Mile; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Gaffney and Carolyn Moss of Blacksburg; one brother, Olin Thompson of Columbia; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchiildren.
