State Herald Transcribed by Carol Moore Holyoke, Colorado February 23, 1917 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Frederick Wilhelm Ernest Jasper was born on the 24th day of July 1855 in Maszbrock, Germany, and died at his home in Holyoke, Colorado on Tuesday February 20, 1917. In 1869 he came to the United States and located at Plattemouth, Cass County, Nebraska. In 1882 he was married to Miss Anna Evers who survives. To them were born five children, Otto, Johanna and Louise of Holyoke, Colorado and Mrs. Mary Beasley of Manville, Wyoming and Fred of Sioux County, Nebraska. In 1889 the family moved to Plainview, Pierce County, Nebraska where they lived till 1906 when they came to Phillips County, Colorado to make their home. In 1914 he retired from active work on his home farm and moved to Holyoke to make his home. He united with the Evangelistic Lutheran church at the age of 14 and continued through life an active worker for the church. During his residence in this county he made many friends among his acquaintances and by his uniformly and fair treatment of all in his business relations he gained the high respect of all who knew him. His death was sudden. He was on the streets every day even up to the day before death. Although he realized that his health was failing, he maintained a cheerful bearing in his social talk with friends. The funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Drinkgern, pastor of the Evangelistic Lutheran church, preaching the sermon and the body was laid to rest in the Holyoke Cemetery. The family has the sympathy of all in their sorrow. Relatives from a distance present at the funeral were a brother and sister of deceased, August and Mrs. Chein of Kearney, Nebraska, a son, Fred, of Sioux County, Nebraska, a sister of Mrs. Jasper, Mrs. Mary Hendrix and son Thomas of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and a brother and brother-in-law of Mrs. Jasper, Henry Evers, Plainview, Nebraska and Henry Hoppe of Bloomfield, Nebraska. CARD OF THANKS We take this opportunity of offering our sincere thanks to the friends who so kindly assisted us at the funeral of our beloved husband and father and the beautiful flowers provided.
