Description	:	July 06, 1944 Funeral services were held from the home and St. Paul's Lutheran church in Java Saturday for Mrs. Martin Reiger, 81, who passed away at a Mobridge hospital on June 28, after having suffered a stroke on Saturday, June 24. Services were conducted by Reverend L A Westenberger and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery. Friederika Reiger nee Christmann was born February 27, 1863, at Alt-Freudenthal, South Russia, where she attended the village school and in due time was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1882 she was married to George Ebel at Postal, and in 1903, the family immigrated to America, coming to Artas, South Dakota, where Mr. Ebel was engaged in farming until his death in the spring of 1919. On June 18 of that year the deceased was married to Martin Reiger and came to Java, where she has resided continuously until her death on June 28, at the age of 81 years and four months. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and was a good and helpful neighbor to all her friends. She had been ailing for some years but since last winter, had failed rapidly. On the Saturday before her death, she suffered a stroke which paralyzed the left side of her body and rendered her utterly helpless. She was removed to a hospital at Mobridge on Monday, where on Wednesday, June 28, she passed away quietly at 8 a.m. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Martin Reiger; six children, Mrs. Elizabeth Kost of Hague, North Dakota, Mrs. Barbara Fischer, Ashley, North Dakota, Mrs. Katie Wiest, Herreid, South Dakota, John Ebel, Herreid, Henry Ebel, Artas, and William Ebel, of Wishek, North Dakota; 30 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one brother.
