Read More	Boone County Democrat September 1, 1911 Frederick Mott another of the esteemed old residents of the city passed away at his home on Clinton street at 4:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon Sept. 5, 1911, after many years of patient suffering. The deceased was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, May 28, 1841, there he grew to young manhood and in August 1862 he enlisted in Company K, 115th Ohio Infantry. He served faithfully until the close of the war and was honorably discharged at Murfreesboro, Tenn. in June 1865. In the meantime his family had removed to Fond du Lac County Wisconsin and he joined them there. In 1866 he came with the family to Boone County and has made his home here since with the exception of those eight years on a farm in Pocahontas County. Feb. 10, 1873 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ann McGlynn and they removed to the farm in Pocahontas County where they remained for eight years but then removed to Boone County. They remained here for a couple of years and then moved to Boone and he went to work for the Northwestern company in the ---. After working there -- years he was --- the war he had received a bad bayonet wound in the right thigh which never properly healed, the bone had ---ayed and left the limb in a very --- condition. While working with a heavy rail this bone snapped entirely off and he has been an invalid ever since. For the past four years he had been a helpless invalid confined to his home and had to be helped into bed in the evening and out in the morning and would sit all day in an invalid’s chair. His faithful wife and children gave him every possible care and attention during these years and he always bore his suffering patiently. To Mr. and Mrs. Mott were born nine children, all of whom are living namely George, Peter, in Washington, John, Edward in California, Robert, Thomas, Paul, Mary and Elizabeth all of whom were present at his bedside except Peter and Edward. He is also survived by his aged mother Mrs. Marie Mott, five brothers, George of Nebraska who was with him during his last few days of his life, Joseph at California, Frank of Chicago, ad William and James of Boone and one sister Mrs. Mary Heuberger of Oregon. The family and relatives have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their sorrow. Mr. Mott was a faithful member of the J.G. Miller Post G.A.R. and that organization attended the funeral in a body six of their number acting as honorary pall bearers. The funeral services were held from the Sacred Heart church at 9:00 o’clock Thursday morning conducted by the Rev. Father Sweeney of Sioux City and attended by many sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. It was his own wish that his sons should be his pall bearers. This was acceded to with the exception that there were only five of them here, George, John, Robert, Thomas and Paul and his brother James served as the sixth pall bearer.
