Description	:	Fritz Mundt, an old settler living east of Crete, widely known and respected by the entire community, died suddenly Sunday evening about 10 o'clock at home in bed. He had just retired and was in excellent spirits and in the act of jolly conversation with his daughter when he suddenly choked and fell back on his pillow dead. Read More	Fritz Mundt, an old settler living east of Crete, widely known and respected by the entire community, died suddenly Sunday evening about 10 o'clock at home in bed. He had just retired and was in excellent spirits and in the act of jolly conversation with his daughter when he suddenly choked and fell back on his pillow dead. Hemorrhage of the heart caused his death. The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock and the remains laid at rest in the Kramer Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Biehusen of the German Lutheran Church of Crete of which the deceased was a member. The funeral sermon was one of the most beautiful ever delivered at services of this kind in this community. The funeral was the largest ever held in or near Crete, many coming from the far distant corners of the county. So great was the crush of vehicles that there was no possibility of supplying stable or tying facilities and the procession arrived at the cemetery almost before the rear vehicles had formed in line. A wife and ten children, three brothers and their families, John, Henry, and Charley, one sister, Mrs. Bathel of Benkelman, besides other relatives remain to mourn his untimely death and to them the sympathy of the entire community is tendered. The children of the deceased consist of five sons and five daughters. Three sons and two daughters are single and still reside at home. The deceased was a kind and loving parent to his unusually large family and a friend and neighbor who was always both when in need. He was born January 11, 1858 in Germany and came to Nebraska with his parents in 1869. They located east of Crete where the parents died but the children have ever since continued their residence. The deceased had always been a clever and successful farmer and accumulated quite a large amount of this world's goods and therefore leaves his family in comfortable circumstances. He was a member of the A.O.U.W. Lodge in this city and always made Crete his trading quarters. Crete friends who were present at the funeral state that in death he looked as natural as in life, and we hope that in the great beyond he finds the peace and happiness he deserves as a reward for his life and services on earth.
