Description	:	Henry F. Mundt was born September 3, 1855 in Seltow, Mecklenburg, Germany. Early he was brought to the Lord in Holy Baptism, namely on the 24th day of September. As a young boy he was instructed in the teachings of the Lutheran church and confirmed alone March 3, 1869 as his parents were to emigrate to America. Immediately after his confirmation, he left the land of his birth with his parents, coming to America in April of that year. Early he was brought to the Lord in Holy Baptism, namely on the 24th day of September. As a young boy he was instructed in the teachings of the Lutheran church and confirmed alone March 3, 1869 as his parents were to emigrate to America. Immediately after his confirmation, he left the land of his birth with his parents, coming to America in April of that year. The family settled on the farm in Lancaster County now occupied by Henry Mundt, a nephew. On March 23, 1977 he entered the state of holy matrimony with Dorothea Jans. This union was blessed with ten children, five sons and five daughters, three of these children, two sons, Herman and William, dying at the age of 17 and 27, respectively; the daughter died in her infancy, preceded the father. After his marriage he settled on the farm now occupied by his son, Edward. He resided there until 1916 when he retired and moved to Crete. The Lord had given him a rugged constitution, enjoying good health up to a few years ago, when the debilites of old age began to show and increase. He was spared from a lengthy sick bed and great suffering being able to be up and about most of the time. His end came suddenly Sun afternoon by heart failure. He reached the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 12 days, being survived by his wife, following children: Mary Hackstock of Crete; Henry of Bradshaw; Mrs. Anna Grasz of Crete; Dora Meinke, Louis, Edward, and Katharine Renner, all of Crete; one brother, Carl Mundt of Benkelman; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wed afternoon at 2:30 from the Kramer Lutheran Church, Rev Schrein officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery in the family lot.
