Description	:	G. Neal Schoep, 88, of Hospers, IA died on Saturday, December 30, 1989 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital following a long illness. Graveside services were conducted in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, IA, on Monday afternoon, January 1, 1990 under the direction of the Vandcr Ploeg Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service followed at the Reformed Church of Hospers, the Reverend Mike Pitsenberger officiating. Graveside services were conducted in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, IA, on Monday afternoon, January 1, 1990 under the direction of the Vandcr Ploeg Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Schoep was born on November 10, 1901 at Sioux Center, the son of John and Minnie (Mouw) Schoep. He was raised in Sioux Center and attended schools there. He married Esther Johanna Beernink on March 26, 1924, at Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Carmel and Sioux Center, and moved to Hospers in 1944. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hospers, where he served as deacon and elder. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mildred Jo Ann (Mrs. Howard) Van Oort of Ireton, IA, and Phyllis Grace (Mrs. Lee) Heiliger of Sheldon, IA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John Schoep of Montevideo, MN; four sisters, Mrs. Johanna Van KIey of Fullcrton, Ca, Mrs. Minnie Van Beek and Mrs. Louise Vandcr Schaaf, both of Sioux Center, and Ardene (Mrs. Henry) Vander Schaaf of Orlando, Fl. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harold; three brothers, Gerrit, Ben and William Schoep, all of the Carmel area; and one sister, Marie (Mrs. Bill) Vonk. Ireton Examiner 1990-01-04.
