Description	:	Gail was born Dec. 5, 1914 to Yarda Lovgren Adams and Jesse Yocum Adams in Albert City, the oldest of five Adams children. Gail went to school in Albert City and graduated from the high' school in 1933. Music was one of Gail's favorite hobbies; taking lessons on piano, organ and cello. She had much natural talent and made use of this in entertaining family and friends. During her high school years, Gail played the piano in movie theaters during the time of silent movies. She would play preludes, intermissions and following the films. All throughout her life Gail would play, until her hands became so crippled with arthritis that she could no longer move her fingers... Read More	Gail was born Dec. 5, 1914 to Yarda Lovgren Adams and Jesse Yocum Adams in Albert City, the oldest of five Adams children. Gail went to school in Albert City and graduated from the high' school in 1933. Music was one of Gail's favorite hobbies; taking lessons on piano, organ and cello. Gail was married to Ira Allan (Bo) Nichols, who was editor of the Albert City Appeal. Later they purchased the Beresford Republic and moved to Beresford, S.D. They experienced success not only in the editing and publishing of the newspaper, but also in the printing business. When Bo left to serve his country during World War II, Gail continued the business herself. In 1950 Bo and Gail separated and went their different ways. Gail relocated to Rapid City, S.D., where she worked for the Rapid City Journal writing her own column and also worked in the display advertising department. Gail was widely recognized and earned honors and awards for her accomplishments in journalism. Later Gail moved back to Albert City and worked in the same capacities for the Laurens Sun in Laurens until her retirement in late 1979. Other than music, Gail enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook. More hobbies were reading and gardening, both flowers and vegetables. In her later years, because of poor eyesight and poor hearing, she was often frustrated because there was little she could enjoy of her hobbies. After Gail became a Christian she was a participant in Bible studies and when it was her turn to lead the study she would spend much time in preparation and was a ready learner. Gail was a member of Our, Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. Jt was her privilege to serve in the "women's groups and also on the church board. Gail departed this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City at the age of 86 years, five months and eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Forrest Ray and one brother, James. Gail is survived by two sisters, Lois of Albert City and Jane Scott of Loomis, Calif; one brother, Roland and his wife Lois of Lincoln, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Jan Adams of Bella Vista, Ark.; sixnieces; two nephews; several great nieces and nephews; many friends and professional associates.
