He attended school in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High, Class of 1967. Galen then attended and graduated from Midland Lutheran College. Following his graduation he served with the National Guard. Galen was united in marriage to Vicki Hoshor on September 2, 1972 in Bellwood. Following their marriage they made their home in Grand Island. Galen was employed by Berkeley Pump Service for over 35 years. He then worked for Case New Holland, retiring in 2013. Galen was a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) and Grand Island Rifle Club. An avid outdoorsman, “Dog Man” spent a good deal of his spare time as part of Cowboy Action Shooting or hunting. Survivors include his wife, Vicki; son, Zack Loomis of Grand Island; brother, Gary Loomis (Corrine) of Michigan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Eileen Nekl (Bob); aunt, Doris Stanborough; uncle, John Wohlgemuth (Twyla); and his four-legged favorites, Spunky and Bubba.
