Description	:	Ruth Mae Loomis, 89, of Grand Island passed from this world on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Milford at Blue Mound Cemetery. Ruth was born May 17, 1925, in Milford to Oscar and Esther (Kunz) Wohlgemuth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen; her parents; brother, John Wohlgemuth; infant sister, Betty; granddaughter, Stacy LeClaire; and niece, Vicki Story. Ruth grew up in Milford, graduating from Milford High School, class of 1943. After she graduated she taught rural school for a short time. Ruth was united in marriage to Galen B. Loomis on May 28, 1945, at her parents’ home in Milford. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Bellwood where Galen farmed. Following Galen’s tragic accidental death, Ruth went to Nurse’s College in Kearney and received her LPN license. She was employed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island for 30 years until her retirement. A strong and independent woman, her faith was important. Ruth was a member of Grand Island Messiah Lutheran Church, the Women’s Circle, and Nebraska Nursing Association, of which she was president for several years. Ruth loved her flowers and her Dachshunds, including Princess Maria.
