McCaffree The subject of this sketch was born in Sidney on January 25th, 1877 and died at the Clarinda Hospital on Dec. 5th, 1899, and had therefore reached the age of 22 years, 10 months and 10 days. McCaffree The subject of this sketch was born in Sidney on January 25th, 1877 and died at the Clarinda Hospital on Dec. 5th, 1899, and had therefore reached the age of 22 years, 10 months and 10 days. He was brought up in this place and lived here all his life with the exception of one year spent with his father in Texas, until the death of the latter in 1890, when he returned to Sidney and was in our schools until nearly qualified to graduate. He was a bright boy and a good student, showing no symptoms of that most dire calamity that can befall a mortal, mental derangement, until about the age 19. When this developed he was sent to the asylum at Clarinda for care and treatment, but never sufficiently recovered to be able to return to his friends. In the later months of his stay in Clarinda he was the victim of consumption and at the time of his death was much wasted away. He was brought to Sidney for burial, the funeral exercises taking place at the Presbyterian church on Thursday at 2 o'clock, p.m., Rev. E. Dickinson officiating.
